Child Dental Benefits Schedule

At Waratah Dental in Lithgow, we proudly support the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)—an Australian Government initiative that helps eligible families access essential dental care for children and teenagers.

Under the CDBS, your child may be entitled to up to $1,052 in dental benefits over a two-year period, which can be used for a wide range of basic dental services. This scheme is run through Medicare and replaced the Teen Dental Voucher system in 2014.

Who is eligible?

Children aged 2 to 17 years may qualify if they are:

  • Eligible for Medicare, and
  • Part of a family receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or other relevant government payments.

To check your child’s eligibility, contact Medicare directly on 132 011, or feel free to ask our friendly team—we’re happy to help guide you.

What services are covered?

The CDBS covers most general dental services, including:

  • Regular dental check-ups and professional cleans
  • Examinations and diagnostic services
  • Dental X-rays
  • Fissure sealants to protect teeth from decay
  • Fillings
  • Some extractions
  • Partial dentures (if needed)
  • Inhalation sedation (happy gas) for dental anxiety
  • IV sedation (once per eligible 12-month period)

No gap, no worries: At Waratah Dental, we bulk bill all eligible CDBS treatments—so if your child is covered, you won’t pay anything out of pocket for approved services.

We’re here to make dental care stress-free, affordable, and accessible for every family in the Lithgow community. If you have any questions about how to use your child’s benefits, just give us a call—we’re happy to help.
