Dentures are a trusted and cost-effective way to replace missing teeth and restore function, comfort, and confidence to your smile. At Waratah Dental, we offer a range of denture solutions tailored to your individual needs—including full dentures, acrylic partial dentures, and chrome-cobalt (Co-Cr) partial dentures and immediate dentures.
Full Dentures
Full Dentures are used when all natural teeth are missing in the upper or lower jaw.
Acrylic Partial Dentures
Acrylic Partial Dentures are a simple and affordable option when only some teeth are missing.
Chrome-Cobalt (Co-Cr) Partial Dentures
Chrome-Cobalt (Co-Cr) Partial Dentures are a more durable and lightweight alternative, offering a precise fit and improved comfort thanks to their strong metal framework.
Immediate Denture
If you are having your teeth removed, you may choose to have an immediate denture made on the same day. At Waratah dental, we offer same-day dentures so that you can have false teeth after extraction. This option may require frequent adjustments as your gums heal after extraction.
Getting dentures is a straightforward process designed to restore your smile and oral function comfortably. It takes a few appointments and here’s what you can expect during the journey:
- Initial Consultation
Your dentist will examine your mouth, discuss your needs, and recommend the best type of dentures for you—whether full, partial, acrylic, or chrome-cobalt. - Impressions and Measurements
Precise impressions of your gums and any remaining teeth are taken to ensure a perfect fit. Measurements of your bite and jaw alignment are also recorded. - Try-In Appointments
You may have one or more try-in sessions where a wax model of your dentures is fitted. This allows adjustments to shape, fit, and appearance before the final denture is made. - Denture Fabrication
Your custom dentures are crafted in an external dental lab based on the impressions and try-ins. - Fitting and Adjustment
Once ready, your dentures are fitted. You may feel some initial pressure or soreness, which is normal as your mouth adjusts. Follow-up visits will help fine-tune the fit for comfort. - Learning to Use Your Dentures
Your dentist will provide guidance on how to care for your dentures, eat, speak, and clean them properly. It may take a little time to get used to wearing them.
What If the denture you’ve had for years isn’t Fitting?
If your denture feels loose, uncomfortable, or unstable, you may not need a new one—just a denture reline.
A denture reline is a procedure that reshapes the inner surface of your existing denture to better fit the current contours of your gums. Over time, natural changes in your mouth—such as bone resorption or gum shrinkage—can affect the fit of your denture.
Relining restores a snug, comfortable fit, helping improve chewing, speaking, and overall confidence—without the cost of a brand-new denture.
There are two main types of relines:
- Soft reline: Adds a cushiony layer for extra comfort, often used for sensitive gums.
- Hard reline: Reshapes the denture base using durable materials for a longer-lasting fit.
