At Waratah Dental, we use high-quality dental crowns and bridges to restore your smile’s function, strength, and appearance—beautifully and confidently.
What is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a custom-made cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its shape, strength, and function. Crowns are often used when a tooth is significantly affected by:
- Tooth decay
- Cracks or chips
- Large fillings
- Root canal treatment
- General wear and tear
- Discolouration or misshapen teeth (for cosmetic reasons)
Crowns are carefully crafted to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. They are typically made from durable materials such as porcelain, ceramic, or porcelain fused to metal, offering both strength and a natural appearance.
What is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a fixed restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth. It “bridges” the gap by anchoring artificial teeth (pontics) to the natural teeth or implants on either side of the space (abutment teeth).
A typical dental bridge includes:
- Crowns on the teeth adjacent to the gap
- Artificial teeth (pontics) to fill the empty space
Bridges restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile with confidence, while also preventing neighbouring teeth from shifting out of place.
What’s Involved in Getting a Crown or Bridge?
The treatment is usually completed over two visits:
- Preparation Appointment
The tooth (or teeth) is shaped and prepared. We take a digital scan or impression, then fit a temporary crown or bridge to protect the area while your permanent restoration is custom-made (typically 1–2 weeks). - Fitting Appointment
Your final crown or bridge is securely placed and adjusted to ensure a perfect fit, feel, and appearance.
Dental crowns and bridges don’t just restore smiles—they restore confidence. With proper care, they can last for many years and help you maintain a strong, healthy bite.
